Matt is a commercially astute Finance executive with extensive experience serving as the Finance lead for multi-million to billion dollar divisions for numerous high-tech organizations such as Expedia, Hotwire, Revinate, Uber and Wish. In addition, Matt is an accomplished author and speaker in the FP&A community. During his career, he has developed an outstanding track record of achievement which can be attributed directly to his extensive experience in financial and operations leadership, FP&A and strategy, forecasting and reporting, budgeting, accounting, technology and systems integration, policy and process development, and team development.

  • Wish
    • Led internal financial business partnering for entire company including pricing, logistics, customer experience, fraud, infrastructure, supply management, payments, incentives, and budgeting for headcount & vendor spend.
    • Led implementation of first-ever FP&A planning system at Wish (Planful) to integrate internal operational data, financial data (NetSuite) & headcount (Workday) to provide the right granularity to evaluate business performance.
    • Built team from 1 analyst to 8 FTE (7 managers) over a span of 8 months to fill significant gaps in financial processes & systems, country-based forecasting, spend management, and business case modelling.
  • Uber
    • Led development of 2020 plan delivering $250M in annualized savings, and established first-ever internal forecast review process for CommOps.
    • Partnered with senior executives, grew staff from 5 to 14 FTEs, increased team from 2 managers and 3 associates to 4 managers and 10 associates, and in only 7 months strengthened efficiency across APAC, EMEA, LATAM and US.
    • Drove the financial analysis for COVID projections which led to reduction of 40% across 10K global CommOps staff and an extra $250M in annualized cost savings.
    • Developed vendor management invoicing and accruals system which improved cost visibility and auditability.
  • Revinate
    • Led fundraising efforts and in turn successfully closed $15M Series D venture debt from Horizon Capital.
    • Developed top performing finance and business operations team with a director, senior manager, 3 analysts and 4 accountants to fulfill FP&A, accounting and billing, treasury, equity, Dealdesk, sales planning and operations activities all of which led to high achieving workplace.
    • Restructured aged Salesforce installation, transitioned to Netsuite from FinancialForce, and created outsourced collections team to tackle unattended accounts which reduced DSO +50% YoY.
  • Expedia Group
    • Led the FP&A teams for 5 different brands globally over 4.5 years, including interim CFO of Hotwire in 2015.
    • Negotiated the P&L budgets across each of the brands in the range of $100-$300M in revenue to optimize EBITDA.
    • In each brand, overhauled financial management by eliminating gaps in processes, instituting corporate reporting standards and implementing financial systems to improve accuracy, quality and timely production of deliverables.
